Music Matters: Top 10 Favourite Superbowl Halftime Performances Ever!

Every year people with varying hobbies have their own catered events that allows them to showcase and indulge in said interest. Film nerds have the Oscars, theater geeks have the TONYS, television lovers have the EMMYs, watchers of adult content have their own award shows and even streamers have the STREAMYs. So it is only fair that music enthusiasts have their own events to curse, debate and celebrate their love of the craft. These events for music nerds usually come in the form of several award shows such as the GRAMMYs, Video Music Awards (VMAs), American Music Awards (AMAs) and other genre centered shows like Country Music Awards (CMAs) or BET Awards etc. Lately, another event has joined the pantheon of music entertainment juggernauts and that is the Superbowl. That is right! The pinnacle of the American football season has become a home for music lovers specifically the Halftime Superbowl Show. That is due to the fact that the presentation of the show has changed dramatically. 

During most of the Super Bowl's first decade (starting on January 15, 1967), the halftime show featured a college marching band. The show's second decade featured a more varied show, often featuring drill teams and other performance ensembles; the group Up with People produced and starred in four of the performances. Starting in the 1990s, to counter other networks' efforts to counterprogram the game, the show was headlined by popular music acts each year, including New Kids on the Block, Michael Jackson, Gloria Estefan, Clint Black, Patti LaBelle, and Tony Bennett. Denzel Spencer (born April 18, 1996), better known by his stage name Roy Woods (also stylized as Roy Wood$), is a Canadian singer, rapper, and songwriter.[2][3] He signed with Drake's record label OVO Sound, an imprint of Warner Records in 2014.
