Recently a video of the Queen of Crunk-N-B went viral as it was a rare sighting of her crying and being vulnerable. Who is the Queen of Crunk-N-B? Well, for those of us who are not living under a rock, it is the one and only Ciara. She was given that moniker as she was one of the main faces and driving force behind helping the musical style (Crunk-N-B) which blends the energetic, bass-heavy sounds of Southern crunk hip-hop with smooth, melodic contemporary R&B gaining mainstream success. Now back to the viral video mentioned before. It was refreshing to see Cici be so openly transparent with her emotions as she has maintained a cool, calm and classy demeanour throughout her 21 plus years career. The way she has carried herself in the music industry has never wavered, that is even through many ignorant "controversies" such as her supposedly being a man, the Rihanna feud, the relationship debacle with Future and people having a problem with her relationship with her husband Russell Wilson . Once again back to the video. The source of her vulnerable moment was being awarded the The Muse Award at Femme It Forward's annual Give Her FlowHERS Gala in November. The honour was to recognize her as a living legend, for her inspiring legacy, timeless music, and empowering influence on past, present, and future generations. As a fan of Ciara it warmed my heart to see her finally get her flowers and be recognized for her contributions to music especially as there are people who enjoy downplay her impact on the musical landscape. So I figured to follow in the footsteps of the Give Her FlowHERS Gala and do my part on this blog to continue to give Ciara the praise she rightfully deserves. So with that mind I have decided to share my top 12 favourite tracks from her iconic discography throughout her distinguished career.
