Album Review: "everything is a lot." by Wale

"everything is a lot." by Wale album cover
Avid readers of this blog know by now that I am not the biggest listener of Hip-Hop-/Rap music. Nicki Minaj was my gateway into the genre then I started listening to J Cole (mainly because of my crush on him), Drake and Kendrick. That was the extent of my knowledge of the genre which is basic although the artist mentioned are great in their own right. Another rap artist that I liked and listened to occasionally was Wale. My introduction to him was his contribution to Waka Flocka Flame's classic smash hit "No Hands" (seriously that song is making a list of my favourite songs of all time when I decide to make one). Then I would listen to a few of his singles here and there like Lotus Flower Bomb, Chillin featuring Lady Gaga (what an unexpected collab), LoveHate Thing and The Matrimony just to name a few. However, I never have listened to any of his albums. Let us be real the reason I listened to any rapper at the start of my journey with the genre was because I was attracted to them. Yes, it it true! I gave J Cole, Drake, Kendrick, Waka Flocka, Wale etc. music a chance cause I was attracted to them. Many may be shocked at Wale being grouped with the other artist because he was not really marketed as a sex symbol but what is there to no like about Wale. He is a beautiful chocolate black men that is great at his job and shows love to black women especially those with brown and dark skin tones. Anyway, I am thankful for this blog where I can correct my wrong by finally listening to a full body of work from Wale. So with that in mind let us see what he has instore for use with his eight studio album titled "everything is a lot."
