Album Review: "The Life of a Showgirl" by Taylor Swift

Let us be honest! I am not an avid listener of Taylor Swift's music much less being a Swiftie. So let us just rip off the band aid. While I do think that she is a marketing genius with a career most artist could only dream of, especially her commercial success, I find her to be a minimally talented average artist. Can she sing? Sure! Is she Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion or Cynthia Erivo? No! Can she dance? I guess! Is she James Brown, Janet Jackson or Tate McRae? No! Is she a decent performer? Sure! Is she Tina Turner, Beyoncé or P!nk? No! Is she a good songwriter? Yes! Is she Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey or Billy Joel? No! With that being said I am not a hater but I am honest. So in the spirit of being honest I can admit that Swift does have several banging singles that I love and I play periodically such as: Love Story, You Belong With Me, I Knew You Were Trouble,22, Blank Space and what I consider one of my favourite songs of all time .... Ready For It?. However, I have never listen to an entire body of work from her. So one might ask how can I hand out such a scorching verdict of her artistry above. The truth is even the singles that I liked were not enough to entice me to listen to any of her albums. Yet in the spirit of trying new things musically in 2025, I have decided to finally listen to an entire Taylor Swift album. Wish me the best of luck!

Album Review: "June" By De'Wayne
