Album Review: "Midnight Sun" by Zara Larsson

In my review of Trevor Jackson's EP review I mentioned that this year has not only been about discovering new artist but also reconnecting with artist that I lost touch with musically. Zara Larsson is one such artist! I have been there at the beginning of her career and feel in love with the Swedish pop sensation through her massive hits such as "Never Forget You" and "Lush Life" but the single "Love Me Land" and album that goes by the same name (a review of this album and other albums I love from years ago will be coming soon to the blog, look out for it) is when I truly feel in love with her as an artist.  I paid attention to all the singles, watched all the videos and was there for every live performance during that era. However, over the years I lost track of her creative output just like I did with Trevor Jackson. Upon further research I missed out on a studio album entitled "Venus", several singles including "Can't Tame Her", "End of Time" to name a few, many music videos and live performances. However, it is best to not dwell on the past so let us focus on the present. Larsson roped me back into her musical web with the lead single "Pretty Ugly" and I am right back where I belong which is being an avid Zara Larsson listener. In a message to fans, she expressed that Midnight Sun reflects her identity as an artist, describing it as her most personal work to date. "In thinking about this album, I thought, 'What do I want to say? What do I want this to be?' I really am proud of my Swedish pop heritage, so I wanted to write about a Swedish summer where the sun never goes down. I wanted the whole album to feel like it's a summer night and it never ends. And it doesn't matter if it's December: the summer night will be there for you. It's waiting for you, it will come back for you, and you will come back for it." Album Review: "June" By De'Wayne
